I chicken; cut into 8 to 10 pieces
3 onions; puree into a paste
1-2 green chilies, finely chopped
1 1/2 cup thick yogurt
2 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
2 tablespoon ginger and garlic paste
Salt to taste
1/4 cup oil
Marinate the chicken in yogurt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, cumin powder and garam powder, Half of the ginger garlic paste. Marinate for at least two hours. Best marinated overnight.
Heat the oil and fry the onions until golden brown, next add the remaining ginger and garlic paste and chopped green chilies and fry until the ginger and garlic paste turns fragrant.
Next add the chicken with the marinade, blended tomatoes and half cup of water.
let this simmer and cook on a medium to low heat, stir from time to time.
Cook until chicken is cooked through, about 20 to 30 min.
Let the gravy thicken to your preference, add extra water and cook a few more minutes if you want extra gravy.
Garnish with dhania and serve with rice/ parathas
