BELGIAN WAFFLES

INGREDIENTS

2 cups plain flour

2 cups regular milk

3 teaspoon baking powder

2 eggs; separated

1/3 cup melted butter

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup regular sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Set aside

In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt and baking powder.

In another bowl, lightly beat egg yolks and add  the milk, melted butter and vanilla; mix well.

Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients just until combined.

Fold the whipped up egg whites into the batter.

Bake in a preheated waffle iron according to manufacturer’s directions until golden brown.

Serve with strawberries, dusting of confectioner’s sugar or syrup.
